THE KINTARO COCKTAIL MENU

The Kintarō Menu Concept

From Silent Cinema to Glass

The Kintarō Menu Concept at Mimi Kakushi is not a menu; it is a masterclass in narrative-led beverage design that erases the barrier between the guest and the story. By replacing traditional print with an immersive, multisensory apparatus, Group Beverage Director Manja Stankovic orchestrates a journey through the 1920s Hollywood Golden Age, anchoring every serve in the legacy of Japanese silent film icon Sessue Hayakawa.

The Interaction

  • Guests receive a bespoke cinema reel box containing vintage View-Master reels. As they click through the custom slides, visitors step directly into the world of Hayakawa’s silent films. Consequently, they select their cocktail by matching a cinematic narrative to a preferred drink profile.

The Performance

  • Following selection, the bartender steps into the role of a director. Crafting a bespoke cocktail, the team translates the chosen film into a liquid format. Furthermore, drinks arrive in curated glassware—ranging from crystal-clear gin martinis in single-origin ice blocks to verdant, smoky vessels. Ultimately, every single flavor note extends the film’s unique atmosphere.

The Reveal

  • The narrative concludes at the backbar, anchored by a restored, custom-branded vintage television set. As soon as the final drink arrives, the television flickers to life to screen original silent film footage. Therefore, watching this historic footage while tasting creates a spine-tingling connection between liquid art and celluloid history, completely immersing the guest in the Kintarō story.
